Details of how we perform procedures:

  • We always try to perform your procedure during ONE appointment.
  • Whenever possible, absorbable stitches are used and they are placed beneath the skin. Meaning, there are typically no stitches to remove.
  • We use waterproof band-aids, so you can shower the same day as your procedure.
  • We'll call you with the final results (pathology report), so we won't make you come back for a follow-up visit.

The Day of Your Visit

"The procedure was easy. Dr. Hayes called me with the results and when I took the band-aid off I was healed."
The procedure takes about 1 hour. You'll meet with Dr. Hayes and discuss the details of your procedure. Most procedures can be done during this first visit. If you're a good candidate for a same-day procedure, Dr. Hayes will mark the area to be removed.
-The area to be removed is marked.
-Local anesthetic is injected and the area is removed.
-If possible, all stitches are placed under the skin, so no stitches need to be removed.
-The only dressing is a waterproof Band-Aid. You can start showering the day of surgery.

One Week After Surgery

  • The waterproof band-aid is removed one week after surgery.
  • Dr. Hayes will give you specific instructions for recovery so you'll know when you can get back to day-to-day activities, working out, etc.
  • The pathology report typically takes 7-10 days to come back to our office. We'll call you with the results when we receive it.
  • Make sure to continue to see your dermatologist regularly!
