Do I need a labiaplasty?
Women generally seek labiaplasty for two reasons. Enlarged labia can be painful when wearing tight clothes or being physically active. Some women also seek labiaplasty for appearance changes. During a labiaplasty the labia minora are reduced--not removed--so that there is a more "tucked in" look to the vagina.

During the Surgery:
Dr. Hayes uses techniques for labiaplasty procedures that are less commonly performed, but yield a better result with less noticeable scarring and a more natural appearance of the labia. He uses an "edge-wedge" technique developed by his close friend Dr. Adam Oppenheimer (Orlando, FL). This technique uses incisions to remove excess tissue of the labia minora and clitoral hood.
The surgery is performed as a same-day procedure in a state-of-the-art AAAHC certified operating room. There are several options for anesthesia during the procedure. Some patients choose to have only local anesthesia, so that they may drive themselves home after the procedure. For patients who desire deeper sedation, intravenous general anesthesia can be used. All anesthesia is administered by certified anesthetists.
Recovery:
After the surgery Austin Hayes MD stays in close contact with each patient to make sure that he’s available to answer any questions. Return to activities varies depending on which procedures were performed. Most women can return to exercise after two weeks. Biking activities can be resumed at four weeks. Return to sexual activity occurs at 6 weeks.
Expected Cost:
The cost of surgery can vary slightly based on each person's anatomy and the type of anesthesia that is used. Check out our pricing page for up-to-date prices.

Labiaplasty FAQS:
Will a partner know I had a labiaplasty?
It's unlikely, most people have a completely natural appearance.
Dr. Hayes uses an "edge-wedge" labiaplasty technique. The scars are hidden between the labia minora and majora (the inner and outer labia). The scar along the edge of the inner labia heals nicely and is almost invisible. Dr. Hayes uses absorbable stitches that are entirely buried underneath the skin. Most surgeons uses external stitches that leave permanent marks on your skin. With Dr. Hayes there are no stitches to remove. This increases your comfort and minimizes scarring.
What is the recovery like?
Can a labiaplasty be combined with other surgical procedures?
Dr. Hayes commonly combines labiaplasty with liposuction, breast augmentation and breast lift surgery and more.
