Overview:
A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), is a procedure for men and women who want to improve the appearance of their abdomen and torso. An abdominoplasty can be performed using different techniques. Most commonly these can include a full tummy tuck or a mini-tummy tuck, but there are other variations. Incisions are always placed super-low on the tummy so that scars are hidden by clothing (underwear, bikini). A tummy tuck flattens the abdominal wall, narrows the waistline and removes excess skin. Liposuction of the abdomen, bra-roll, waist and flanks can be performed at the same time to contour the patient’s body and enhance their shape. The most dramatic results typically come from a combination of liposuction and a full tummy tuck (Lipo 360 + Tummy Tuck).

Tummy Tuck FAQS:
How long will I be off of work?
Most patients take 2 weeks off of work.
How much pain will I feel?
Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Hayes uses a long-acting numbing medicine called Exparel. Exparel is a local anesthetic that slowly releases the medicine over 48-72 hours. With the use of Exparel most of our patients report much less pain and find the pain easy to control with oral pain medication. Dr. Hayes tailors every aspect of the procedure and post-op care to minimize the pain that you feel.
Can a tummy tuck be combined with other procedures?
A tummy tuck can be combined with a variety of procedures. This may include a breast augmentation, breast lift, or liposuction procedures. The combination of a tummy tuck and a breast augmentation or lift, is typically called a "mommy makeover." I specialize in combining comprehensive liposuction with my tummy tuck procedures and find that Lipo 360 and tummy tuck gives the most dramatic results.
How long should I wait after my pregnancy to have a tummy tuck?
The best candidates for a tummy tuck are healthy women who are done having children. It's best to wait 6-12 months after pregnancy to allow your body to complete the process of changing.
Can I have the procedure if I've had a hysterectomy or C-section?
Yes. A hysterectomy or C-section won't limit the option to have a tummy tuck procedure. The tummy tuck surgery removes your old C-section scar and places the new scar even lower on the tummy so that it is hidden by underwear or a bathing suit.
When can I exercise again?
Gentle walking starts immediately. Vigorous exercise can be resumed at 6 weeks. Patients should not lift >10lbs for the first six weeks. This gives the "muscle repair" time to heal.
What is a mini tummy tuck? Am I a good candidate?
A mini tummy tuck is a procedure that uses a shorter scar and does not make a separate incision around the belly button. It's good for patients who have a minimal amount of excess skin below their belly button. Most patients do better with a full tummy tuck.
If someone has very little skin above their belly button, but needs a full muscle repair, I'll do an umbilical float tummy tuck. An umbilical float lifts the belly button up with the abdominal skin. It allows the muscle to be repaired completely, from the top to bottom, WITHOUT putting a scar around the belly button.
