Overview:
A mommy makeover is a procedure that helps restore the appearance of a woman’s body after they’ve had children. After pregnancy, some woman notice changes in their tummy, hips, thighs or breasts. Their breasts may lose volume or sag. The abdomen can lose the flat appearance that it once had. Loose skin and stretch marks can form. Unfortunately, these changes often cannot be improved fully with diet and exercise. A mommy makeover procedure addresses these changes by combining breast surgery and a tummy tuck into one procedure. This could include a breast augmentation, breast lift, or a combination of both. Some women may desire a lift and reduction in their breast size. Liposuction of the back, flanks, and thighs can be performed if the patient desires improvement in these areas.
The Consultation with Dr. Hayes:
During your consultation you’ll have the opportunity to discuss any areas of concern and explain your specific goals. Dr. Hayes will get a sense of the look that you want to achieve. Dr. Hayes will discuss the different types of breast and abdominoplasty procedures. He’ll show you where the scars are placed. He’ll help you decide which procedures are right for you. If you desire an increase in your breast size, you’ll be able to try on implants. Dr. Hayes will describe the surgical recovery, so that you know what to expect after your procedure.
During the Surgery:
The plastic surgery procedure is performed as an outpatient procedure, under general anesthesia. The procedure is performed in an AAAHC certified operating room.
Recovery:
Dr. Hayes uses long lasting local anesthetic (Exparel) to minimize pain after the procedure. They are able to walk at home the evening of surgery. Dr. Hayes stays in contact with each patient to answer questions and make sure your recovery is as smooth as possible. If a rectus diastasis repair was performed, lifting greater than 10lbs should be avoided for 6 weeks.
Expected Cost:
The procedure cost varies based on the specific procedures, whether breast implants are used, and the amount of time spent in the operating room.

Mommy Makeover FAQS:
How long should I wait after my pregnancy to have a mommy makeover?
The best candidates for a mommy makeover are healthy women who are done having children. If breast feeding, it’s best to wait at least 3-6 months after you stop nursing. This gives the breasts time to undergo any changes that may occur, prior to having surgery.
Can I have the procedure if I've had a hysterectomy or C-section?
Yes. A hysterectomy or C-section won't typically limit the option to have a tummy tuck procedure. Oftentimes the tummy tuck surgery removes the old surgical scar and places the new scar lower on the tummy so that it is hidden by underwear or a bathing suit.
When can I go back to work?
Most patients take 2-3 weeks off of work.
When can I exercise again?
Gentle walking starts immediately. Vigorous exercise can be resumed at 6 weeks. Patients should not lift >10lbs for the first six weeks. This gives the "muscle repair" time to heal.
